Writer, Producer, Editor: John Welch
John Welch has been an editor on films, television, EPKs, live concerts and fashion
shows for over five years. He is the chief in-house editor at Stormcrow Entertainment,
as well an animation producer currently developing online shows for the company. John recently edited a segment of the
BET Network's show
Access Granted. This segment featured artist Musiq Soulchild and chronicled the making of his latest music video for the song "teachme."John also recently edited the taping of "The Blaque & White Ball." This charity event raised money for the New York Gay Men's Health Network as well as the Black Gay Network.
John also edited the video for Fashion Designer Rami Kashou's well-reviewed show during L.A.'s fashion week in March 2007. Other recent fashion events edited include Rachel Pally's Fall / Holiday 2007 fashion show.
John also edited Clik Magazine's 1st annual Clik Honors / Elite 25
Awards Show for Television and DVD. Prior to that, John edited the comedic feature
horror film, Dead
Boyz Don't Scream , which premiered at the 19th Montreal
International Gay & Lesbian Film Festival in November 2006. That same year, John
edited a one-hour television pilot, Rx , which was a finalist in Dramatic Competition at the 2006 New York TelevisionFestival.
On the music scene, John edited a making-of-the-record documentary forvirtuoso French jazz pianist, Francois Quillet's Americand ebut album, Pacific, collaborating with legendary rock drummer, Robin DiMaggio(Paul Simon, David Bowie).John also edited concerts and EPKs for artists such as Coldplay, Rilo Kiley, Sabrina, and IRS, as well as instructional videos such as The Art of Drumming with Robin DiMaggio. Over a two-year span that included working with over 150 hours of original footage, John was an editor on the award-winning documentary, RINGERS: LORD OF
THE FANS . In late 2005, John edited the behind-the-scenes documentaries, ROCK & RINGERS and THE RING COMES FULL CIRCLE , for Sony Pictures' DVD and Television release of RINGERS .
Before moving to Los Angeles, John worked for three years as an editor in the media department of the national headquarters of American Family Insurance. He graduated from the AVID Training Program at the Digital Media Education Center in Portland, Oregon in 2002, with a prior degree in Liberal Arts from the Madison Area Technical College. John is originally from Madison, Wisconsin, and is an avid (no pun intended) ukulele musician.
